I think Off-Topic best suits this type of thread, not sure if it is allowed but I just want to introduce myself to the forum :)

My name is Jason Jalet, I live in Ireland and I've owned 2 smart cars. I'm currently an owner of a black Fortwo 451 Passion Coupe but over the next year I am looking to heavily modify its looks inside & out and perhaps its performance!

Thank you all for having me and I hope to make some new Smart buddies during my time here! :)

I met another Smarty who had Mercedes instead of Smart emblems on his four-two. He bought it here and told the dealer he did not want any Smart emblems on it then went online and purchased the Mercedes goodies (I thought he said) on a Smart website. Does anyone know a site where we can purchase other Smart stuff?

Over revving in 1st Gear

I was wondering if anybody can help my smart for2 has a problem in first gear i have to but my foot to the floor for it to start moving its fine in every other gear and drives great on the motorway, i'm really confused its not long since had a new engine, or does anybody know a smart car mechanic in manchester xx SJ

After some years of posting pictures of 450s and 451s that I've rented, I'm finally getting one of my own. It's a 2010 highstyle, one of 130 (or so I'm told) made for Canada. I've been working on the deal with MB Midtown in Toronto for a few days. The financing was just approved today. It's pretty much loaded. The only do-hicky I'm adding right now is an astray. (Tsk tsk, I know.)

I'm getting the tire and rim insurance, as I'll be buying a winter tire and rim package later. I already paid big $ following rim/tire damage on my Elantra after my son took it over a crater in a parking lot, so I figure with the small wheels, I should plan for the worst. I'm getting chipguard, as well as paint and interior protection, especially with the leather-cloth combo seats.

It's an employee-driven car with some 3000 km on the clock since February and thus a nice little discount for me. MB gave a good deal on the trade-in -- better than I was expecting, as the 06 Elantra 4-door HB was in a collision (teenage son) in 2007. $7000 damage. But I'm happy with what I got for it, and with only 63500 on the clock, someone's getting a comfortable, reliable ride. Usually, I've driven my cars into the ground before trade-in.

MB Midtown is really a cool place to do business. Everyone's been really friendly and helpful. I've been quite fortunate in this regard, having purchased three cars from Kingscross Hyundai over the last nine years -- they've always been really good for sales and service. Shopping at a Benz/Smart dealership is a whole other snack bracket -- whoa! There's nothing quite like it to boost ones ego.

Delivery should be some time next week, but the exact date will probably be revealed tomorrow, Friday.

So that's the view from Cloud Nine.

But I want to wish all of the rest of the Smart Owners a most wonderful day as well. But Thanksgiving is where all of us Americans pig out at the table and stuff ourselves. So if you see a fortwo leaning to one side or another, you'll know why. And if it is just riding a little low on the suspension, then that just means there are two yanks on board.

I'll bet I'm the only person with a four-seater 451... You can't quite say this turns a fortwo into a forfour, I suppose.

I call it my tiny pick-up truck, and I find it useful for all sorts of chores, including hauling these two toilets off to the dump!

Gold Rush Rally

We raced from Northern California to Nevada as a Rally arranged by Gold Rush Rally.
Except the California Highway Patrol decided to end all the fun by closing down the 15 freeway to Nevada.
The only problem for CHP (California Highway Patrol) was that to many drivers racing their Ferrari's, Lamborghini's, Mazarati's, and Austin-martins carried Immunity papers from the State Department. So the Police officer told everyone racing to respect the law and the speed limit. Took pictures with the drivers and that was the beginning of a slow drive to Nevada boarder.
