Do any listers out there have any idea where I can secure a facfory-type service manual for my 451? I've come up against a brick wall at my dealership, where I was informed no manual is available. What a load of crapola! Do smart centers expect owners to rely on the shadowy expertise of their understaffed service and parts departments? Is Roger Penske trying to control EVERY aspect of smart ownership? After waiting over a year for my car, I should at least have the opportunity to work on it…

Hell, I can't afford $100/hour labor charges. Can you? SO CAL EVENTS?tag:www.451s.com,2008-07-25:1912846:Topic:366472008-07-25T16:32:43.563ZJEFF CUSHINGhttp://www.451s.com/profile/JEFFCUSHING
Do any listers out there have any smart events on their calendar? I'd LOVE to attend or create one in San Diego. There are some 600 smarts on the road in Southern California. Somebody out there MUST want to get together...

Thanks to good smart friend Paul at Roundrock smart in Texas, you don't have to get ripped off by your local smart parts counter when you need replacement body rivets. They want about $90.00 for a complete set of body attatchments. Unless you are repairing damage, all you need are plastic body rivets. Just ask your Mercedes Benz parts guy for #000-990-54-92-9051. I paid $1.66/each for mine.
I just put together a great "kit" of things Roger Penske forgot to include with the smart. Here it is: small scissor jack and handle, proper lug wrench, flashlight, shop towels, screw drivers (3), emergency flares (3), all bundled up in a neat little black canvas bag that sits in the corner of the package tray or under the seat.

If there is interest from other listers, I can price out the kit based on a volume purchase of needed items and pass on the savings. My guess is that I can offer this…

Let me know and I'll get the ball rolling. DEALER DISSILUSIONMENTtag:www.451s.com,2008-05-29:1912846:Topic:279182008-05-29T23:39:41.421ZJEFF CUSHINGhttp://www.451s.com/profile/JEFFCUSHING
Am I the only smart "customer" being shunned by the dealer support organization. It seems that Mr. Penske has the aftermarket sewn up by telling dealers that unless "smart authorized" accessories are installed you could be in warranty violation, I was told I could not install 16" or 17" wheels because they were not authorized. I was even told I could not post a notice at my dealership in San Diego promoting a smart rallye on June 1 because it was not an authorized smart usa event. Now I may be…

I AM UPGRADING TO 16" SCHMIDT WHEELS. WHAT ARE THE BEST TIRE SIZE CHIOICES? AND SHOULD I STAGGER THE FRONT/REAR SIZES? OR KEEP THEM THE SAME?
