Andy, just wondering what you get for your "allowance"? You claim "minimum wage" income and own a smart, shower it with all the goodies. You are obviously a "child" ("spoiled brat" comes to mind). We have yet to see a pic of YOU, you post pics of a white smart and asian babes.
You are very immature in your postings here, you post rediculously huge pics that NOBODY can view (can you say "worthless"?). You prove yourself to be a child here, everyday. What you do post is "borderline spam", no data, just claims. Other members have told me this, I agreed with them. You are a little spoiled brat/punk. these are new phones, yet to be put in stores, there is a new warehouse in Bolingbrook, IL that stores LG cell phones, they are loaded with one version of software, i am loading "+1" versions, just plug em in and zap em! when i started, i assumed they might be "refurbs", but they are all new, just sitting arround (the protective covers aren't the best quality, that's why i assumed "refurbs", but there are too many! and the boxes/literature are newl)

For our Smart Car Run we got Smart this time. I invited the Police department to Escort us. It's good to have the force on your side. One way to beat the radar, make friends.
Hi Not so smart,

Normally I would say that the speedo reading less than the limit gives a safety factor to us.
In my dozen years driving in the USA, I got booked once. I was heading north on I65 from the Gulf Shores in Alabama and was being pestered by a maniac in a semi. Horror of horrors. In my dozen years driving in the USA, I got booked once. I was heading north on I65 from the Gulf Shores in Alabama and was being pestered by a maniac in a semi. Horror of horrors. I was trying to do the posted 75 mph but the nutter trucker would pass me on every downhill. My car was a brand new (Honda Passport) and I didn't want stone damage from a nut in a truck. The road is two lane each side most of the way. On every uphill, I would leave the nut behind. On every downhill, he would storm past doing at least 90 mph. This was not a fun game!. On one uphill I gunned it a bit and got pulled over by a State Trooper on the crest of the hill... doing 86 mph... 1 mph over what he needed to issue a ticket. Stiff bickies. Alabama had a 15 mph over the posted limit tolerance in the mid 90's. After 2000, some US States introduced speed limits for trucks 5 mph lower than the posted to give cars a chance of surviival.

Back in Oz, 4 kph (say 3 mph) over will certainly earn you a ticket. Truckies are logged and speed limited to 100 kph. The problem is that truckies use GPS and accurate speedos to optimise their road speeds for delivery schedules. Private cars do not.... so what a "civilian" driver thinks is 100 kph, the truckie sees as 95 kph and that means time and money to him. When the road is single lane; that becomes dangerous. Trucks are supposed to keep 100 metres (say 100 yards) between each other. But when a nutter trucker follows you in your smart at less than 10 m (10 yards) behind, doing what you hope is the legal limit, it does become a worry.

If I can rig the ScanGauge and a camera facing rearward to indicate true speed and capture a a pic of a semi following close behind, I could register a complaint. These nutters should not be driving big rigs!

For about 100 km on Sunday night I was a smart sandwich between two semis. I was 50 metres (yards) behind the leading semi... the one following me was 10 metres behind me. If was fool enough to get close enough to the leading semi to have a chance of overtaking him if and when an opportunity occured, the nut behind would have closed my safety gap. I was praying that some idiot in a V8 did not try to overtake the following semi and suddenly find me in front.

To escape the truck sandwich I had to hit 130 kph on an uphill two lane overtaking section (very few and far between) to catch up with and clear the leading truck. I could have been booked for exceeding 100 kph... but there was no safe alternative for me!

Maybe in the distant future we will have separate road systems for freight trucks to civilian passenger vehicles. Until we do, the only option will be restricted road time schedules for truckers... say mid night to dawn... not anytime!

And that is the stupid game we are caught in: trying to drive safely and responsibily in small passenger vehicles while sharing the roads with heavy freight trucks that have a schdule to meet and figure anything smaller than them is just road kill.

With the ever increasing world wide trend for "road safety" enforcement to be by static speed cameras instead of the man on the beat, we wee motorists are paying more and more for less and less effective control and protection.

Many moons ago, in the late 1960s New South Wales (Australia) speed police used Morris Mini Coopers for highway patrol. A car that in todays terms was smaller and of less performance than the smart. I don't have the figures on how many police were wiped out by truckers. The mini Coopers only lasted a few years, then got replaced by bigger cars (Holden Toranas / sort of GM Camaros)

The point is: speed cameras and fixed radar systems are penalising civlian motorrists and are no longer "seeing" the real world situations which lead to forced speeding and dangerous road situations. There is no substitute for the "man on the beat". Hi Ian,

Hi Ian,
I drive a Dodge Spinter for my work truck and the spedometer has always read 4 mph higher then the real speed. The Dodge Sprinter is made by MB for Dodge. I just know that if I add 4 mph to my speed, that I am going the speed limit. Then I add 5 to 7 mph on top of that and I am still driving under the ticket threshold speed. I have neaver been pulled ove or gotten a ticket in the Spinter. Knock on wood. I worry more about milage or miles driven racking up faster then it should. Others have commented about this spedometer error, but I have not read anything about anyone having it fixed. Goodl luck on this and keep us posted. Thanks
