Paul, what is the difference between the instruments you show here($249 +S&H) and the instruments from smart($120. no S&H)? neal

When you order your car with instrumentation it costs alot less than adding after its delivered. I believe $120 is all one pays to add it when its being made, but $267.70 plus labor to install it in a smart without it. Factory alarm and foglights are options everyone should add because they are not available from smart after production. I hope this answers your question. Paul

Paul, Thanks for the quick reply and evaluation of the instruments.
I decided against the alarm because the smart has an immobilizer built-in. I have fog lights in my present car and hardly ever use them so they are out. The power steering I will include, when configuring, because my wife will mostly drive the smart and it is something that will be difficult to add later and will be better if I ever sell. Neal

power steering is an absolute must! I drove the un aided one and fealt that the car was a 3 ton truck at parking speeds. I ordered mine with power steering and its just right, not TOO soft that you sneeze and change lanes, but oh so nice to park quickly..

That's unfortunate the US model smarts do not come standard with power steering... I guess we're paying for that too! (Canadian smart owner)

Our dash instruments cost $160. Yikes! But then, I didn't like the look when I was doing my test drive.
