I have a 2008 Fortwo Passion Cabrio. I find that the heater core still
puts out heat, even when the temp slider is pulled all the way downt to
the cold setting. On a nice 5-degree C fall day, the cabin often gets
unberably hot. Even in subzero weather it can begin to feel too warm on
long drives. Thank goodness it's a convertible and I drive almost
entirely with the top down during the summer. If I run my A/C, it simply
has to work against the heat that you can easily feel if you hold your
hand up to the vents. I have never put a thermometer into the airflow,
but I would guess the temperature of the air exiting my dash vents to be
somewhere between 50 and 60 degrees celsius (120 to 140 F) with the
slider as cold as it goes.
I've asked Mercedes to look at it twice now. The first time they said there was nothing wrong and the second time they replaced the mixer
valve, mostly to make me happy. This has had no effect at all. Now my
warranty is almost expired, and I'm wondering if anyone has a similar
experience.
Has this ever come up before?
