Hi, all four or five of you! I've just ordered my new Smart coup and will be heading to Edmonton in May to pick it up. I know one owner up here (Lori, the hairdresser) but would like to contact the rest of you if possible. So many questions - like how did you make out during our Arctic cold spell? What have you come up with for insurance? How are you dealing with your warranties and getting your cars serviced? We have some rather unique challenges up here. Jan
I only had mine since July and I am using it for summer communting from Tagish. It is down right now as it just decieded to quit. John on the Carcross Road is going to look at it. Insurance is high, warranty, watch out for that! Make sure you don't over pay and what does it cover.
It has been a challange with my warranty as I need a new control module and the one that will need to be replace is called SAM module and it is not listed in the warranty so they will not cover it. I will not go into details but the warranty was not worth the paper it was printed on. I only have 28k on the vehicle. I found someone that is eager to work on it and managed to get parts and has won my trust that he will take care of it. He is eager to work on all smart cars. Try Tony at Lone Wolf Tech.

Hi Linda - Sorry to here that your Smart car quit on you. I'd heard that John's Auto was a good resource for repairs but haven't taken mine in anywhere. So far it's run great, though I wasn't able to make it to work when the temperature dipped below -30. I don't have a garage and of course can't use a block or oil pan heater. I'm waiting for an alternative solution. Meanwhile I go to AFL for the synthetic oil I need and order my filters, etc. from Edmonton. I'm pretty sure that my warranty is blown since I wasn't able to meet deadlines for necessary check-ups. But so far I'm doing reasonably well with my almost daily commute to Carcross from the south end of Whitehorse. Let me know how you make out at John's and I'd be happy to share any info. that might be of use. - Jan
