Your battery will discharge in about a month due to parasitic draw. You need a battery maintenance charger like a Battery Tender to keep your battery charged up. The Battery Tender comes with a lead to hard wire it to the battery so that you do not have to lift up the carpet to connect the leads.
The trip to Carmel was great! It was amazing how well the Smart did on the PCH (especially through Big Sur), and I don't have to tell you about the mileage. We spent a day in Monterey toodling around, and the valets at the Highlands Inn just loved the car!
