Anyone else changing the horn on their smart?

The first time I heard it, I laughed out loud!! Definitely once my car is in the driveway, I'm changing it. Anyone else out there already change it? And where did you go? Is this something you can do yourself? Thanks!

I paid the extra $75.00 for the double horn. I haven't heard it yet since my car only arrives in a few weeks but maybe it will just be double laughable. Time will tell.

i think a truck air-horn would be better, the smart horn is nothing to take seriously. i'll have to look under the "hood", should be room to stick something in there, then just run the wires from the old horn.

Well, I was thinking the Bad Boy dual air horn for mine -- that should get my smart noticed right? Anyone know if these things are easy to change and install a new one?

usually a couple of screws, there should be room under the hood. we keep getting whacked with weird weather here (damned stupid algore!!!) it's supposed to snow again in chicago this saturday!!! had slight flooding last night! (lost electricity for 3 hours in last night's storm!)

We should be more in tune with Al Gore... It's going to get worse! There are serious concerns about the Tata in India. In a short while there could be much more pollution if millions of Indians start to get that cheap car..... Same issue with China and the improvement of their income.
I am contemplating adding Solar cells on my roof, getting to work on my bicycle on nice days, etc...
I can't understand why people would drive Hummers, or even why such polluting cars (trucks) could be sold!
I was told by the Smart dealership, that it will be possible to upgrade our Smartie engine with fuel cells when they become available....
I also wonder if it is possible to upgrade our cars to the new model that shuts down the engine when stopped at traffic lights? (seen recently on Google video and apparently available in Europe)

global warming is a FARCE!!!! algore is making $10M a year, flying around in Lear jets polluting the planet out the wazoo. and guess what? the world got colder in the last year! if you believe in global warming, find an old fashioned toilet (not the low flush type) and stick your head in and flush a few times to rid your mind of this silly concept of "global warming". it's not happening! wake up and smell the cat food in your bank account! and stopping your engine and starting it and driving it is more harmful to the engine!!! the oil stops circulating, then an instant start-instant load on the engine will induce more WEAR!!!

I upgraded my model 450 to small dual airhorns. They test at 140 dB at 6'. LOL. Nobody laughs at my horn anymore...
Video of me testing the horn. I put in a switch so I can go between the stock horn or the stock horn +airhorns.

Hey, thanks for the short vid Gent... now I know what mine will probably sound like when I get the Bad Boy dual airhorn. :)

No worries. I used 2 (overkill) Stebel Nautilus compact air horns. Each unit is the size of 2 redbull cans side by side. They are easy to fit anywhere, and I strongly recommend them. I went a little crazy with wiring in the switch and relay so that I could go back and forth. It would be simple to just put one in using the stock wiring.

Yep. Going to an aftermarket loud one. Around 140 dB should do it and I plan to drive mine like I ride my motorcycle - assuming that NOBODY sees me (meaning how easy it is to hide in someone's blind spot - seems EVERYONE sees the Smart). There are a number of relatively inexpensive air horns available too.
