it's only 3 bolts, plus removing one body panel, $263 is a rip off for labor. but mercedes is famous for rip-offs, $77 for a pair of smart wiper blades is a fine example.
nothing is cheap for a smart, when going through the dealership.

powerball run
today i made my first "powerball run" since i installed my Scan Gauge II, it was a short trip from Illinois to Indiana and back. i play the lottery on a regular basis and when the powerball (Indiana and other states) gets over $100 million, i play that one too. on the way there, 37 miles, 28F temp with good traffic i got 49.9MPG, avg speed of 51mph, on the way back i hit rush hour traffic and was stuck a bit, avg speed 37mph and got only 47.2MPG, 48.5MPG average for the trip at highway speeds (m… Continue

8 months after
hi all,
today is my 8 month anniversary of the delivery of my smart. got my first oil change yesterday at 5280 miles (bought the filter a week ago at my smart center, the smart tech was off on saturday)
i love my smart, 8 months later, unlike my wife, the smart is better to me than my wife. even today, i got 9 thumbs ups (that i saw) as i drove my smart (what other car gets thumbs ups?) (my last 2 cars, a MB 190E and a geo metro never got a single thumb!) i loved both other cars, but never got… Continue

- My wife already said she won't drive it, beacause somebody at her work told her it's to small and that makes it unsafe. I don't know how it can be unsafe when you are in a roll cage with four air bags and seat belts. She won't like the shifting either so it's pretty much a shoe in that I will be the only one driving it. She choose the SS pickup last time so it's my turn for this car. I hope you get a BRABUS as well. Best of luck.

- The base price for the silver / silver combination is 17,990 and thats what I ordered. I also added the front fog lamps 110.00, the daytime running lights 50.00, the anti-theft system 160.00, and the premium sound system 350.00. I finally sold my 2003 SS Chevy pickup for 20,000 dollors and had allready planed on spending about 17,000 on a passion w/allot of options anyway. So the BRABUS upgrade didn't cost that much more. Now I don't have to worry about the to small of tires and rims thing on the front anymore. Just the rougher ride. But my wife allready hates this whole smart car thing. Maybe if the car looks better she will learn to like it. LOL I don't know if I will get it sooner now that I changed my reservation to a BRABUS but I was hoping so. They are made somewhere else. Only time will tell.

I can't resist mentioning that with a smart you are getting hybrid mileage for half the price. Something to think about. You don't have to use premium gas; the computer will adjust the timing, but the mpg will decrease. Even with premium...
