Julie, I agree, they need to step up their advertising. I know the dealer here in San Antonio has about 2 dozen cars on the lot and I haven't noticed too many of them moving. Also, they seem to lose a lot of repeat customers because of the…

Just looked at your catalog for the light kit. Does your extra wiring make it possible to run the more powerful bulbs? I was just told by the smart people here in San Antonio that the smart cannot handle stringer bulbs.

Scott Mankewitz commented on Hugo's blog post 'Changing Headlights'
I changed my bulbs. Not too hard. Just found out though, that you need to use the same kind of bulb as the OEM. I put the bright whites in mine and they both blew last night as I was driving. Luckily I had my fog lights on. Anyway, I took it to the…

Scott Mankewitz replied to Scott Mankewitz's discussion 'Broke smart'
No, I really do love my smart. I thought at first it was the tranny not ready correctly and preventing it from cranking. But after moving the shifter around without success I gave up and went inside. After about an hour or so it cranked right up. I…

If you ordered the ski rack, it comes with it. Otherwise, you can get it at any hardware store. It's a 3/8" hex bolt around 1 1/2" long.

The Car in my picture is a 450 Smart. It is a model Smart Car made before Smart 451 came out. The topic of the forum is Smart Car 450. Just for your information when you see things you should also read the topic that people are talking about so you don't look like a fool.

Retired at age 44? Good for you! I went out at 55 and never looked back, although I had to give up my aviation activities a couple years ago due to the cost impact on my nest egg. I shoot also, and have a couple beautiful stainless Rugers. They are 22 caliber which allows a lot of time in the lane without spending a lot of money. My daugher shoots a real pretty stainless S&W revolver, also a 22. Again, let me know if you want more details on the hitch.

wish i had an MP5 :-)~

i got an SKS with a few mods, a S&W 686, 915, a ruger, an intratec, a beretta and a walther bull-pup.

some people have all the fun!

wish my slacker parents would have put me through college! my mom is now a millionairess and doesn't give me the time of day. my dad is ok, he's good for a lunch now and then :-P

you should check out youtube for spud gun videos, some are pretty funny, some poorly constructed guns blow up on the shooter! i'm tempted to get either a surplus flack jacket or a kevlar vest for added safety, cuz i'm holding that chunk of PVC right next to my side (PVC can shatter, ABS "splits")

BE,

I am actually a retired Federal Law Enforcement Officer. My idae of playing with guns is firing several thousand rounds down range from my Sig, MP5, or M4. I reitred in Nov 06, after five years of travelling the world protecting senoir Defense Department personnel - Secretary of Defense and Chairman, Joint Chiefs of Staff to name a couple. I have fired some of the finest weapons that don't belong to our country. I have been to some really great places and some real shit holes. I've fired from moving vehicles and flying aircraft. So, I would not say I am "gun shy".

I applaud your belonging to the NRA. I personally don't. I have issues with some of the things they promote and lobby for.

I was glad to see you wore propper protection and being safe. Too many people don't practice good safety habits.

In closing, I amactually going to use my savings from gas to put my four boys through college, as I believe my coconut size pair are just fine.

go to youtube.com and look up "spud gun" and "potato cannon", it's a "hobby" just like hot rodding (it's actually safer, driving a car at 100+mph is highly dangerous)

i'm a LIFER in the NRA, i know shooting safety. my $25 spud gun is as powerful as a .357 magnum (1400 ft/lb of energy) not quite as accurate, but i can hit my target near dead center at 20 yards.

if you didn't notice, i used proper hearing and vision protection. safety first! i did much research before constructing my spud guns and they are very solid and highly reliable and safe.

i can't help it if you are "gun shy", i can't imagine what you do for fun (make paper doilies, i imagine). i love the feel of recoil and the sight of a target getting hit and going down. i always do my "shooting" in an out of the way area, away from people and buildings. (it's actually as loud as a 9mm pistol, the camera is 10 yards from the gun and facing the other way, so it's not loud to the camera)

scott, use your savings in gas and buy a "pair".
