when i had my little metro, i thought of dropping a mazda twin turbo rotary engine in it (if i won the lottery) the rotary engine is light and compact, and can produce 2-3 times the power of a suzuki motorcycle engine, and in normal use, might be quieter than the suzuki (especially if it fits in the smart engine bay) my smart with the skinny tires is more stable at speed than my old metro with fat 15 inchers. just a thought...

i was in a geo metro club and their "hot mod" was throwing a honda V-Tec engine in it. i thought why stop there? a mazda rotary is just as small and probably a bit lighter and can put out 300HP. even a normally aspirated rotary can do 150HP and rev beyond 10,000rpms, 10,000rpms with a smart 5 speed equals 200MPH!!! and a rotary is quieter than a suzuki hot rod engine sitting next to you (them europeans are crazy-DUMB, no hearing protection sitting next to a racing engine, i know a guy like that, he's half deaf at age 50!); ▶ Reply to This
