Real World Mileage...

What is everyone getting in 'Real-World' mileage?
I have heard the EPA's rating, but I don't trust their 'calculations' (even the new ones).*
How about it folks, what's your city/highway L/100km? Miles per gallon?
And what type of fuel/engine?
Country?

Check page 6 (of these posts), posted by Rick Masters, for information about pulling the milage out of the 'auto' 'D' setting.

*The vehicle (smartcar Pure) is designed to achieve 40 city/45 highway mpg according to 2007 EPA standards and 33 city/41 highway mpg according to 2008 EPA standards.

Thanks for starting this link. As soon as I get mine, I'll be glad to pass along the info. Also, I hope whoever shares this will give surrounding info, like, premium gas or not, city, hiway, how fast, etc. I think we might see a big range of mpg here....but all good I'm sure, and I know that it will be better than most cars on the road now.

The smart car is definitely premium only.

was curious on this also , I have an 06 Mercedes CDI the EPA ratings were 27/37 ,for 08 were 23/33 ,I get much better than was listed ,I've ordered a new smart was curious if anyone was getting better than what was listed on the sticker?

so far everyone I have spoken with is getting much better mileage that what the epa sticker reads. most of the feedback I have gotten has been around 37 city and 47 hwy

Not much to go on with just 1 fill-up so far but:

6.464 gallons at 245 miles = just shy of 38 MPG in a 50/50 mix of city/highway driving.

They say the milage gets better after the first 1000 miles ( as all the parts wear on each other a bit).
It will hopefully get even better.
Thanks and keep us informed. :)

I just completed 836km in the Smart, in 24 hours.... Not too bad a trip and mostly on the motorway in Italy.
Fuel used was 38 litres exactly - 62mpg.
The car has completed 6500km now and has consumed 1.5 litres of oil in top-ups.

I wasn't overly impressed with the figures as I bettered that in a Citroen C3 HDi last year when that car completed the same run and managed 64mpg and that engine is twice as big.

I cruised at about 130-140km/h on the way to Italy, 110-120km/h on the way back. Perhaps it will improve as the miles pass however, I don't think it will get much better.

no from experience it dont get better at 1000 miles,I have done 2550 miles and the fuel consumption is still not great on 2007 451 passion 71bhp.

Can't update my MPG yet because I haven't re-filled. But on my way home today I lost the last fuel quantity block and the little gas pump started to flash at 314 miles. At that point, the trip odometer stopped displaying mileage and showed .8 gallons remaining. Now that's cool!

if the tank only holds 8.7 including reserve then you got 39mpg for 314 miles at 7.9 gallons, but i see conflicting figures, one site says the tank is 10 gallons including the reserve. we'll all find out when you gas it up!
