You buy a cheap exhaust, you get a cheap exhaust, simple as that. The smart exhaust is unlike any other exhaust, because it is attached to the engine and therefore moves and vibrates a lot more it has to be well made and well supported, plus it has to have a cat and a good silencer in a small space.
Many people have told me that aftermarket Exhausts are breaking away.

smart exhausts are much like those on the old air cooled VW's so much has to fit in a small space. For years driving VW's i learned if you try to get a cheap system, it will fall out from under your VW in 5 or 6 months. All I can say is make sure you get a quality system. That is not based on price, but on craftsmanship. I have not taken my stock system out yet. I'll be sure to check around for the best after market unit before I buy.
