OBD II Codes ONLY from the factory computer?

Any word yet on a smart car scanner? What is the type, such as CANSF or ISO, or GM VPW? If they make it too proprietary, that seems very user unfriendly, possibly illegal.

Perhaps Smart Car is not fully compliant with the law. If it is too proprietary, that is in violation of the whole OBD legislation starting 96. Hmmm
