I know this is an old post, but I think you all should be made aware the little warranty isn't the ONLY warranty when it comes to defective parts and workmanship, in the USA. The Magnusson-Moss Warranty Protection Act 15USC50 section 2300, with its…

I'm still fighting my bill with Smart for this upgrade. Corporate is still "working" on it. I have the extended warranty. I was shocked to be told that there is a $100 deductible every time the warranty is engaged. Is this normal? My last new car (w…

I took my Smarty in for it's regular check up and also for the continuing transmission problems. They performed a "new clutch software update" version # 4519022600 and, get this, charged me $151 in labor!!!! I am OUTRAGED and called the Smart corpor…

But let me ask this? Why on earth should you have had to pay $42 for this "update"? This is Smart's fault and Smart should continue to work on it until it is fixed. I have had all of the "fixes" everyone has spoken of (with this last one being the e…

I have a similar problem with 2008 PassionForTwo, which has occurred four times in the 28 months and 13K miles of ownership. I'm happily driving along until I reach my destination, then I need to go into Reverse to park. The shifter works flawlessly…

I'm in Guadalajara Sep - Apr. I don't know how Smart works its Warranty but if you continue to have problems, you may be able to have a Handler change-out the shifter to the one fitted to the Smarts in Mexico. I have been told the transmission probl…

The shift link lubrication was the first repair job. I don't know if they used real grease, but It didn't work. The second repair replaced the clutch plate. I still occassionally experience the same problem. Sometimes, it won't go into any gear unti…

Dave Stephenson replied to Francis PoWell's discussion 'smart fortwo transmission problem'
As I understand it it is the Shift link not anything to do with the Tranny. Lubrication seeps out and then prevents the shifter from engaging the pin that allows you into reverse. I have a 2008 with 15000 miles with no problems. It was Number 43 in…

Where in Mexico are you living? The problem you may have is if you are driving a US Spec. model. Mexico gets the European version which is not having the problems of the North American car.

Hi!

I’m Kevin, live in West Jordan, and own a 2009 BRABUS. I invite you to join the Smarter Utah group at www.smartUSAinsider.com/group/SmarterUtah.

After driving my smart for a while and turning heads everywhere I went, I thought it would be fun to get together with other local smart owners. I’m too busy to try to host a picnic or a rally, so I went looking for events others might be organizing near my home, but didn’t find any. I scoured the online sites of smart USA insider, smartcar of America, Club smart car, and 451 smart fortwo and the closest thing I could find to a Salt Lake Valley or Wasatch Front smart club was the Smarter Utah group. You gave your location as Salt Lake, so will you join us? Once enough of us are connected, we can get some events organized.
