It's a little tricky, but if you hunt around in the owner's manual it tells you how to do it.

Hey Diehl, looks like you know how to drive and how to take care of a car. Must run in the family. I only average about 38mpg, but I'm mostly short trips around town, but no problems either. 34,000 miles since April…

My light has been on for a couple of months now. Next time I have some service I'll get it checked out, but so far I've noticed no problems, and it drives fine. I'm just aware that something is not in working order, so…

Thank you for the secret code to turn off the ESP and ABS!  As you say, this may come in very handy to get out of being stuck in the snow.  Also it will increase the fun level when I find an icy vacant parking lot!

It's just one of the many "alfa syndromes" the smart has. Turn of the car, and start it again, and the car is back to normal again. If that dosent help, it may be a problem with a abs/esp sensor or the electrics. Good luck with your…

Read owner's manual. Could be a problem with the esp itself.

I have just left this comment for Tom Mckenzie, who appears to be your friend.

Hi Tom,
It appears that your firm "Bromot Capital" is a big internet scammer. You offer to supply loans and/or capital to businesses. I paid $7,500 several months ago, a "due dilligence fee" and you (or "John Edwards") do not answer. It seems that you have been scamming people all over, to judge by the references to you in google. Maybe I am totally wrong, and if so I apologize and will say so here as soon as I have the evidence. In the meantime, I am distributing this to everyone.

Jack, Nthing is more fun that the extreme comparison. When people comment about the very small size its just an opportunity to give them a smile and respond, "why yes it is!" I've intentionally parked the Smart next to the biggest vehicles in the parking lot. Doing so magnifies the changes needed in the way American's think about getting around town and farther. We are a country of posh excess. Seemingly we are driven to live a lifestyle that defies respect for the environment and our wallets. I believe that those of us that see what the Smart is about realize its more than just a car, yes it is a statement of our future. It's a good thing. Smart! I drive now for purpose. The fact that the Smart is so much fun to drive is an amenity to its ownership.

Jack, How are things down south. Just took delivery of an Orphan last week. I see that you too have a similar "opposites" vehicle scenario. I too also have a big Dodge truck. Sadly, I think the truck is loosing the battle. I've always been sort of a 'cost' concious person. I bought my truck because I could. I had no real reason other than I liked it. Gas was in the low to mid $2.00 range a gallon too. I don't use the truck for what it was really intended, but it is a beauty. Anyway, when we saw the Smart, had to have it. Signed up March 07 and we are staying on the list for the one we ordered. Like the Yellow/Black Combo.

Good to hear from you, Jack. I am happy to hear that your knee is better. The mere mention of orthopedic surgery is enough to bring tears to my eyes!

Great article in the TCPalm! You AND your smart are "stars". I couldn't agree more with your quoted statement: "I'd drive this car even if gas was still 39 cents a gallon.":-) I have had my smart car for 36 days and I have 5,810 miles on it as I write this. The trip to Maine and back was awesome. If you would like to read more about it, look up my discussion responses and check out a couple of pictures from the trip I have posted.

Happy driving, be safe, live smart and simply! (See, I pay attention when you speak)

Hi, Jack. Long time no chat. I have been behind the wheel of my smart car WAAAYYY too much.

I have solicited your professional guidance in a discussion I started called, "A/C Control Mysterious 'Third eye'". I trust you will know that it is all meant in the spirit of fun and joy that comes with driving a smart!

Hope all is well and that your knee is healing / has healed to your satisfaction.

Regards,
AB
