I left the ignition on to tow my Smart Car a short way on a car dolly. Do not do this with the windows up. The doors automatically lock!
It took me two hours to figure out how to get in without damaging the car. I will not publish the method here but established members of 451s.com can PM me for the technique.

Hello, I was at the car wash and doors were locked, key in my pocket. I opened the hatch to get a towel and for some reason I took the key out of my pocket and put layed it down in the back. I proceeded to shut the back end up and then realized I left the key in there. the doors were already locked so the back end is too. How do I get in?? Please help, it is at the car wash with my phones, purse, wallet, house keys...
