Loving my Smart from San Antonio

Reply to This

I got my smartfortwo from smart Sugar Land, Texas on March 5th, 2008. I was told by Ralph (salesman) that mine was the 13th on the road in the Houston, Corpus Christi, Galveston, Beaumont area! She ("Daisy") must have been on the first truck!

I signed up for the smart newsletter in June 2006. I made a deposit February or March 2007! Another e-mail told me to choose my colors and accessories. I ordered yellow with black tridon and RED interrior, alarm, Radio 10, and power steering. Oh, and window tenting, too! I always think outside the box! My test drive was July 17th, 2007. Then I knew I made the right decision by ordering very early!

It was a long wait but I've had a ton of fun driving her. People drive past, then slow down and take pictures of my smart with their cell phones. I see people looking in the window when it is parked where I can see it. And like everyone, I get a ton of questions about mileage, who makes it, is it a hybrid or electric, where did you buy it (smartusa.com), etc., etc. I've thought of making a business card with FAQ and answers to just hand out so I don't have to take the time to answer. Now I usually say "smartusa.com" will answer all your questions.

Mine is so cute that I wish I could find a bumble bee to put on my intenna or a bee stinger to put on my "tail." Does anyone know where to find something like that?

If there are any Houston area smart car events, please keep me informed!!!

I saw that picture with the bus picture as the sunshade, I really want it, but where can I get it customized here in the states? Any suggestions?

I hope the 451''ers won't mind a 2000 ForTwo owner among their ranks! By the way...in Europe, Premium is even higher octane...(95 instead of 93!) so I would use the premium we have here. At 4.5 gallons, you are talking about 45 cents a tank. I have never put over $15 in my tank, much better than being cut off at $75 when filling my F-150!

More than welcome. I checked with the Parts Distribution Center Manager to see if I could order 450 parts and he indicated "soon". He could not elaborate from there. So "soon" you'll be have a new source for your smart items instead of eBay. Paul

Hey, Paul;

What would a set of Rims for a 451 cost?

I'll be getting a 'Bumblebee' when I finally get to configure, and I think they'd look better with black rims, so I'm thinking of getting a second set and having them powdercoated. I'll keep the originals so I can return the car to 'stock'

I agree a black set of rims would look excellent on your Bumblebee, unfortunately smart USA is not endorsing any other wheels for us at this time. Legal or liability issues I guess. They were pretty adamate about it too. Look on eBay I guess. Sorry. I'd love to get you a set, but I'm being held back.
