Smart handles very well in bad weather. It all depends on how slow or fast you are driving. At safe driving speeds smart will handle any kind of conditions. I have driven through one bad snow storm and the smart did very well. I was just scared if a suv might run into me.

Here you can find info about switching of the ESP on the 451.

But pls note ESP is there for your safety, i could only try it when you are stuck in snow or something.

Snow tires are almost a necessity here in Northern Ontario, the traction with snow tires is twice what it is with OEM "ALL-SUMMER" tires. Be safe on the road and have a set of tires for winter and summer.

I live in Buffalo, NY. Plenty of snow this year......
I have 4 winter tires and, so far, no problem. I saw plenty of cars stuck on the roads when I was driving by.....
Of course, I don't try to drive in a foot or two of fresh snow.
Living here, I never thought about keeping the "all season" tires for the winter.
