I am looking for seat riser brackets for my Smart 451 so my wife (4'11") can see over the steering wheel. Does anyone know where I can purchase them? Or, does anyone know what the dimensions are for the standard seat mounts (i.e., the distance in inches between the seat bolts)?
you might want to buy longer socket head cap screws (unscrew one and take it to your hardware store, find out the size) and buy longer ones (4), socket head cap screws are "stronger" than grade 8/10.8(metric) hex head cap screws (bolts to you non-fastener folks) maybe 25-50mm longer than stock (1-2 inches) and get appropriate bushings to support the seat at the higher height. the bushings will be the difficult part, you might have to get a local machine shop to fabricate them.
Thanks all. I think we are going to try cushions first. If that fails, I will install longer bolts and washers. I did find a local machine shop (per local benz dealer) who will create a bracket to fit. Problem with adding any height is the seat. It is already pretty close to the sunroof.
I just purchased my Smart cabriolet model two weeks ago. I am 4feet 7 inches tall, I use a large pillow and it works just fine. I have heated seats and they still work ok.
The UK car has a darn great spacer one inch thick under the foot each side of the front seat, with longer bolts. I have taken mine out, you can have them for nothing, just have to package them from ENGLAND to you! Guess you could do the same at the back.
This is for some strange thinking by smart as we have suspended pedals in our right hand drive cars, not like yours which stand on the floor.
nope... the battery and airpump kit is in the passenger foot well... on the left hand side for those of us with right hand drive cars. The floor pan is mirrored (?). The cabin air filter is on the left hand side (in our passenger foot well) whereas you get to play around with the pedals when removing it. Some things are mirrored, others are not.
The brake pedal on my 2008 pulse is floor mounted and has great muck catching recesses at floor level. It quickly collects gravel and grass cuttings and is a real challenge to clean out.
Hi Raymond,
A couple of questions:
What's the noise and wind like driving the cab at speed on the highway? (My only "cabriolet" was a Jeep Wrangler... it wasn't too bad until it rained and the water whipped around onto the rear of the windshield -...
