HELP FORM MISSISSIPPI

Here is my dilema. I have a 2002 Passion Cabriolet 27000 miles. Have been lucky TIL NOW. For the last month the abs light comes on and will not go off unless I sopt and start the car. Sometimes it does it CONSTANTLY other times I go for a couple of days with no problem. What we have checked is the reluctor rings, they are fine. Did replace the brake light switch a few weeks BEFORE the problem arose.(the a/c leaked in the car and shorted it out)> What we are tring to figure out is WHERE to start. We have NOT got the diagnostic stuff for this model car. We are going to be a smart center starting in October. MAYBE the diagnostic stuff they send for that will work. In the mean time, anyone have any bright ideas? Thanks in advance!

The reluctor ring is read by a sensor. It will have a wire coming out of it. On the Maserati cars I rebuild with the Tevas system-what you describe is always a sensor problem. Some times its a fault in the wire that has caught something whille driving. Check the wires on all sensors carefully. In Europe there is a breakout tester that plugs into the OBD2 port to troubleshoot brake problems. I have not seen one in America since the 450 was not a federalized vehicle. One of our friendly Canadian techs maybe?

I hope the disc pads are in good shape.
