just curious is the a replacement for the gas filler door in something other than black plastic ,having an all siver smart ,its the only thing on the exterior that is unattractive,is anything made in chrome that anyone knows of?
It only comes in black, but its around $30 to buy a replacement part from your local smart center which then you can paint to match your smart's color or you can buy a sticker that will cover a majority of the flap.
I've done both, currently on the project car I have the color match sticker on the flap but have a spare flap that will be painted perfectly to match the car.
General warning the color match sticker doesn't match 100% so up close you can see the difference in the grey, but form a distance and a quick look its perfect.
You will find some CHROME plated and BLACK PLATED GASCAP covers at RS PARTS in Germany.

Hope you don't mind that I'm jumping in a bit late, but wanted to let you know that at Smart Madness.com we carry 2 options for a gas cap. 1.) My personal fave, a Carbon Fiber gas cap door 2.) and like others, the Gas Cap Cover by BRABUS.
I personally like the look of Carbon Fiber and these specific gas cap doors are really sweet. The fiber is laid really smooth (does that make sense?) and the clear coat is nice and even. I've personally checked these pieces out, and I don't think any buyer would be dissapointed.
If you're interested in checking the options out, this url takes you to the main page, then simply click on gas cover doors :)

Overall, it seems as if you now have a pretty decent variety of options compared to when you first posted waaaaaaaaay back in Feb. I know, I know, we're a bit late, but hey. Better late than never, right?! :)
To you, yours and your smart,

I'm very sorry that Max got hurt but I'm also glad you chose to post this. I live in a city where rednecks in SUV's and trucks abound. Combine that with the incessant texting and phone chatter and you've got a bad mix. It's great to know that my (as…

The 2 fronts are now available as spares ... or ... has anyone considered doing a smart Low-Rider? Replace those wide rear wheels / tires with the skinny fronts and become a…
