I drove a smart at my dealer in W. Palm last week. (Still waiting for mine to come in.) I really liked the manual mode. One of the cool things is that if you hustle a little bit up to speed, like to 40mph in 3rd gear, and just want to cruise at that speed, you can easily click right through 4th to 5th gear. Also, if you're just cruising along and want a little extra for zipping around someone, or into a slot in the traffic, it's easy and smooth to click down a gear or two, without stomping to the floor for that hard automatic downshift and high revs. It can all be like a pleasant dance on the road with your car. Poetry in motion. Can't wait for mine.

I bought an orphan yesterday,the dealer in sarasota had a silver , with silver tridion ,with the comfort package and upgraded sterio,call on saturday ,picked it up last night

Congrats!! Glad you were able to pick up an orphan. How so you like it so far? Would love to see pics of it. Let me know if yours is as much of a one-car parade as mine. Still getting tons of waves, honks, thumbs up, questions shouted out even while driving! Hope yours gives you as many smiles per miles as mine does.

I love it ,its sliver with a silver tridion ,black interior ,I'm going to take pictures tomorrow and upload them here, the 2 tampa dealerships are still not open as of yet

Keep in mind that SmartCar is close to sending out notification of a "computer upgrade" to the transmission for the 2008 models ... the 2009 transmission is much smoother. Apparently this will be done free of charge as a warranty item.

I just got my Smart Car on Saturday Rick Case Weston, FL. . So far I am impressed with it. It was really windy here in South Florida on Saturday so it was a good day to see how it drove on the interstate. Speed was no problem, I did experience a little buffeting from the wind, but not enough that it wasn't easy to correct.

I did modify the cockpit a little by adding a couple more 12 volt inputs and I'm looking forward to getting the bike rack and cargo shade from my dealer as soon as they get it in. I'm also going to see if I can have an center arm rest fabricated. I think that will add to the comfort but its really not bad as is

Well I'll have to let you know more after I have a few weeks of driving under my wing!.

Hey Zach. Congrats on the delivery. Got mine from Rick Case on Jan. 23rd. I agree with what you said. Some buffeting in real strong winds, but nothing like the old VW Beetles. Is yours a convertible or a coupe? Pics of mine are with my profile. Enjoy the car. Hope to see you on the road some day.

I have the coupe, I just saw a parts page it has a center armrest for the mini cooper. I was thinking it might work in the Smart Or maybe I could design one myself. I'll be moving to Palm Beach County in September. I work for the Broward County Sheriff's office wait till they see this tomorrow. Thanks for your reply Ralph !

If you're going to work for the sheriff's office you could put white doors on a black smart and look like one of the "black and whites"! That would be cool! :-)
