Rubber winter chains

I'm having trouble finding winter tires that match the all season tires that shipped with the new car? My local tire shops can find matching sizes for the rear tires (175/55R15) but they are unable to source the same winter tire in the front size (155/60R15)?

Online stores like TireRack indicate that the Pirelli Winter 190 Snowcontrol tires should be available in these sizes. And another site seemed to indicate that Bridgestone Blizzak tires might also be available in these sizes.

My question is, can the front and rear rims support the same size of tire for winter use only? I have found many more local choices in tire options if the front and rear tires were to use the rear tire size of 175/55R15?
