I have a 2005 450 with the Mercedes 6 speed turbo motor and would like to know if the A/C system is the same as the newer U.S. 451 with Mitsubishi motors?

My 2008 SMART Passion burned down to the frame about a month ago when commuting home, for no apparent reason. All attempts to get the Dealer or SMART USA to look into the cause failed and I don't want anyone else to have to experience walking away from a car that was engulfed in flames in less than 30 seconds. I was lucky!
I turned it over to my Insurance Company's Total Loss Department. Has anyone else heard of SMART Cars catching on fire?
Please note it seemed that my air conditioner was having a similar problem just before this fire!
