No interior boot light.

l find the boot/trunk area very dark of a night. There is very little light that reaches the boot area from the positioning of the interior light., l feel smart could of put some better lighting in that area of the car. What do other smart owners think? Pete (UK)

Hey Pete--finally got the smart after I fixed it. The dealer put in the passager side air bag sensor then the car threw 4 different codes!! I've worked on cars for 30 pluss years. I told them it has to be a bad body controll module or a bad ground to the module. They ordered a new BCM and 2 weeks later I finally got my car. Your country must be empty. I live 3 miles from Disney and most of England are in my food stores. Ha Ha.

Pete,
My son in law does vinyl wraps for cars. He did a great set of lettering and logos for my old forfour. Given a rough design he makes the things up and can fit them, or you can self fit. He now has a forfour, so it's all in the Smart family too.
I can put you in touch if you're interested.

Pete, so glad the self repairs were a success. Your are plotting new ground for those of us who will undoubtedly have a need for body repairs. I love your idea of painting your smart relative to your landscaping business.

I am actually waiting for my other smart. Thus, fraternal twins vs identical. And it looks like a longer delivery than I expected. And in keeping with frateranl twins, the looks will be very different. the one on order is red and black and my other one is silver and black. Cheers from Debra

Pete---week 5 and still no car. Got the air bag sensor in---fixed that---now it throws 4 new codes. Could be body control mod. Or bad ground. France has made me the smart from hell. And in their honor im ready with the white flag.

Hi Paul, Sorry to hear your not well, my wife has the lurgy now but i`m ok so far.

On the fuel thing.....it will get better with a few more miles on the clock, it was the first thing I noticed when l had the car was the poor fuel return. l am now getting about 55-60 mpg. Its not as good as the fortwo 450 l traded in that was brill no matter how hard l bootied it.

The other thing about the Buzz ,......yes we both have that in both cars. It drives me mad, my wife says her car will only do it when l`m driving it but thats because she don`t go over 50mph in it. I find it comes round about 50 plus when accelerating.

l pushed some padding under the plastic liner above the back window and l`ve found its stopped most of it.

speak some more later in the week got to do some work!! l only work 5 hours a day now so best be off and make the effort! cheers pete...........hope you feel better soon mate

Pete,
Sorry it took so long to reply, but have had the lurgy and felt really rotten!
How is your fuel consumption coming on? I queried mine at Lincoln Smart as I have yet to better 40mpg. They say it'll get much better, but I have done 2500 miles and don't really floor it too much on the rural commute to Hull and some peripatetic visits in East Riding. I was hoping for at least 55plus!
Also I have a slight "buzz" or "rattle" when accelerate, which goes on the overun. My wife's Passion (auto) doesn't make this noise. Anyone else noticed this?
I guess we should be organising a 451 get together sometime to compare user comments and share experiences that the dealers might not want us to do?
Paul
