Disc Brake Calipers just don't stand out in a Smart the way they might look on a Porsche a BMW or a Ferrari. They can cost you 3 to 5 thousand dollars to upgrade to get the expensive look. So I decided to do something about it. I painted them. Check them out and see if you like.

The pictures might not work well with low resolution computer screens.

What kind of paint did you use?

You can buy it from any auto store. Just look for Brake Caliper paint.

Did you just paint it on? How many layers? Any prep work?

How long did it take to do this?

I'm always wondering how long it takes to do.

I had Street image help me with it. Takes a day to do it.

Do you have to take off the wheels?

Reply to This

Wheels had to come off. Disassembly of the caliper mount and caliper itself isnt required but we took them off the car anyway to cover as much as possible. Prepping the surface was the most time consuming since you dont want any contaminants mixing in with the paint. We used G2 caliper paint system which we sell for 37.95 which includes the paint, catalyst, brush, cleaning solvent, and stirrers. Entire process takes a day to complete because they recommend 24 hrs for the paint to fully cure before driving.

Maybe yellow calipers. Will match the car.

that is one hot car!
The engine is the same as a regular Smart. In fact, the only differences are tires, wheels, suspension, exhaust, body panels and trim. I have only driven one regular Smart and that was two years ago at the Smart Road Tour. My Brabus coupe is only ...

Newer cars have a lot of battery drain from computers and such. I have battery tenders on all my special interest cars and never have any trouble with dead batteries. If you plan on letting your car sit for several weeks at a time, I suggest a goo...
