I still have this problem, even after I cleaned the motor plug. Every time it doesn't work I have to go there and shake the plug.
I'm tired and ready to solder it.
I drive my Smart sence 2008 and didn't spend a dollar for service. I do oil chenge my self and will try to do my self any repair if I 'll need to.
Just recieved E-mail form SMART dealler.
Electric SMART on its way to California. Deposit-$2500 .Lease only. $599/mo for 48 month. Plus tax and Lic.
So..after $30K+ I'll have to return the car.
Anybody intrested? I'm not.

I've tried Brian's method, and added Jack's tip and I still can't get it reset. I changed my oil ,filter and plugs at 30,000 miles. But no luck with the maintance counter.
