451 smart fortwo

Im quite excited! Ordered for myself a smart fortwo turbo cabrio. Primo pack with silver on silver tridion. Cannot wait!

Should be getting it sometime in the new year. Now the waiting game begins.
Oh for the Aussies out there, the micro hybrid drive is out. Same price as the regular 52kW/71 bhp engine. Hmm... i hope i made the right choice...

Yep,... got an email from smart Australia yesterday that the mhd is now available. It's not suitable for the turbo, but mhd looks like standard for the N/A engine. Same prices as previous. 209 price list downloads; main catalogue not updated yet (?).

I spent most of the weekend doing slow driving and lots of stops around town (trying to inventory old buildings). A hot day of 32C; air con on medium high. Worst fuel economy yet... 21 litres for 240 km... 8.75 lhk; (I'm a bit suspicious of that petrol pump being accurate!). Normal consumption is more like 5.5 lhk. mhd would certainly be good for that type of driving. A must have for urban delivery cars.

Stuck in city crawls, mhd is the way to go. Where I am the turbo is the better option, most of the time.

"Cannot wait!"... 'fraid you must. Typical wait in Australia is to fit the six month cycles (seems we get two major shipments a year). USA can be much longer.

PS: mhd gets an "mhd" badge on the rear... I'm still peeved that the turbo does not get a "turbo" badge...LOL.

You are lucky to get a turbo option.

Hahaha thanks. Yeah i am surprised that you kids didn't get the turbo option over there. Not even on the Brabus model? So disappointing!!!

I'm in Europe at the moment and there's tons of them here. In all honestly, i originally wasn't a big fan of them - and i am still a wee concerned with driving around in Australia where size = greatness mentality is rife. But driving around in Paris, I've realised the lunacy of needing to drive a 2 ton vehicle to carry 80 kilos of meat and bones around the city.

As for the turbo badging - i'm happy without one. I like my cars to be sleepers. :)
