The Owners manual should be in a plastic folder, stored under the passenger seat with Velcro. A PDF copy of the USA issue is / was available from a download site.
The Workshop manual is only available to MB smart centers and is a proprietary, electronic document system that is not available for general sale. There are some old versions available on CD... but they are effectively bootleg / illegal.
For general service and repair information, look to the UK web site: http://www.evilution.co.uk/index.php
Hi Ian. Thanks for your helpful reply. The previous owner handed me service history and everything he had by way of paperwork, but there was no instruction manual. I looked under the passenger seat, but not there. Under the driver's seat there was only a fire extinguisher.
Presumably the first owner didn't pass the manual to him.
Specifically, the starting of the car is proving a problem as there is obviously a sequence of actions necessary to get into drive mode. I'm managing, but would probably do better if I had instructions.
I shall try to download the version you mentioned. Do you know the download site by any chance please? I'm not very au fait with finding these things. I obviously need the idiot's guide to everything! -- don't want workshop manual by the way, legal or otherwise!
The starting sequence is a safety / security sequence (stops the teenagers borrowing the car)...
Must be in N to start. If the smart is stopped in R, it will not shift into N unless the foot brake is held down.... makes sense - you don't want to start it in gear... it is the press the foot brake that is the key... when stationary, the brake must be pushed to change gear. Gear changes are by electronics activating the clutch servo.
The Evilution site was great! Slowly I'm printing my own manual.
I won't replace any more TPMS rither. It was just that it is a new car and I didn't want to cobble it up so soon. Thanks for the link to the site. Ken
Hello,
my Smart Dealer told me that this is a problem with the Light-/Rainsensor (>several customers reported him about the same problem).
If left activated it consumes power even when the car is locked. So better turn off the system if you descide...
oh don't worry about that, I haven't paid them yet and definitely don't intend on paying them, we've documented the photos and sent them off the the tint butchers and said we are going to get an independent workshop (ie. MY workshop of choice) to ...
Hate to pun the title of this thread... but doing something stupid would have been paying the Tint Butchers for the hack they did. And to MAKE THEM REPLACE the parts... well... I wouldn't let THEM lay another hand on the car. Get them to pay a com...
As Robert says: see Evilution for an illustrated guide on engine oil change: http://www.evilution.co.uk/index.php?id=198
I still can't see any value in the TPMS (Tire Pressure Management System) and at those repair costs, I'd ignore / disable the...
The engine oil is separate from the transaxle. The drain plug for the oil is on the right side of the engine and takes a 24mm or 15/16" wrench. The drain plug for the transaxle is on the left-hand side and takes an 8mm allen socket. The fill-plug ...
