451 smart fortwo

smart Car

I've heard that people do a lot of modifications and upgrades to their smart to make it more "sporty". What's the max speed of a factory smart (after removing the governor if one exists)? Does anyone know what are the typical top speeds after the sport mods?

[Edit: the site says that "smart" is properly spelled with all lower case, so I made the change in my post accordingly.]

The 451 needs to set up to "dyno mode" within the ecu software AFTER it has been remapped.
All my cars have given a consistent 109-112bhp
These figures are from turbo equiped cars , right?
Yes those are the figures that BIGPERFORMANCE remaps for TURBO 451 gives.
The 71bhp cars have so far only given 78bhp but we keep trying.!
the speed limiter can be removed and with a new program (repro) it can easly reach 190 / 200 km/h.(only changing software)

but if you put a new air scoop, air filter, lower susp, etc it could go a bit more

this is a smart with one suzuki gsxr motor beating one ferrari

ive got 90mph on mine but i got a stoper on 90 do uknow how ican take that off ?
original of 451 is 145 km/h and 155 for the brabus i have decode several ecu's yet

files can been downloaded from server
a 84 hp turbo 451 can easy speed 180 kmh ...for it's original horsepower
the modification don't need any soldering in the ecu i work over K-line on desk

next week i should also start tuning of 451 gear box as i dit for the fortwo 450 and roadsters 452 in the past
to reduce shifting time and improve the gear box.

:-) Coool.
Hi All,

Umm, well I can tell you this story... We were driving to SEMA from Long Beach (straight away) with the Yellow in the front driven by Boris and I in the back with my Miata, radar detector and both of us on radios. We couldn't put the smart on the show floor unless it had .5 gallon or less of gas, needless to say we had to burn it as we were getting close. We opened it up and... the Yellow was pulling away from me, I called him on the radio with "GO SMART GO!" and I immediately looked at my speedometer and I was going 97. Yes... I was 97mph on a straight away and he was pulling away from me.

So our Yellow has a DTH exhaust, Cold Air Intake and a flashed ECU with 17s. The max may be 90, but what do we say when I'm going 97 and our Yellow was pulling away from me while in front? We'll, I'll leave that one up to the debaters :) Call me if you want to get either of the first 2 ; )

Cheers!

well i can tell you the speedo needle goes past the end of the numbers then stops moving, yet the speed still increases... my 451 turbo is still limited but to 115mph, and it does it with ease (on private roads of course)

ps theo you are a champion, we need to talk! i need more power more boost but have problems with the map sensor cutting the throttle and causing fault codes at around 9psi peak boost under full load and in high gears...

can you help?
