what I dont understand is that I can get every one of these items from my local dealer for a little less and not pay shipping... how are you offering me any advantage?

Well, you can shop from home (saving gas and time) and I have everything in stock ready. It comes right to your door step through UPS with tracking info sent immediately after shipping. Superior customer service by a very knowlegable parts guy (me). Support after the sale with installation instructions, specifications research, technical data etc. I find out the right answer and don't guess. Also, unless you are in Texas you won't pay tax. All smart warranties in effect (just keep receipt) and redeemable at any smart center. What else, I am very surprised to hear your smart center is a little cheaper than me. I'm used to hearing the exact opposite such as some smart centers charging $24 for an oil filter and $7 for a copper gasket. While I won't dispute the high price for smart accessories I will tell you I'm not getting rich from these sales. I have read of some of your difficulties with your local smart center so I have to wonder why you'd want to reward them. I have responded to one of your replies before asking if I could help you in any way. I'm not just on this forum to sell parts, but I would like to. Everyone I have served here and on other forums have said nothing but great things about my service. I'm striving to have the smart brand succeeed.

The dealer is as you say not too experienced with parts but their prices were a little cheaper. and a ashtray is an ashtray no matter whom you buy it from as both ARE OEM accessories. I am dealer as well, but I chose to stock the my department to the limit and research as much as I can. I went worldwide to get part numbers for items smart USA wouldn't offer (like the Brabus Mats I'm about to post). I been in parts for over 14 years and it always made me uncomfortable when I didn't have the information or part a customer needed. Much of what I want to do with and offer to the smart enthusiast is restricted, so I watch the aftermarket community take over. The 16" wheels by Schmidt is a great example. I really do want to be the go to guy for people on this forum who want to separate conjecture from an official smart response and parts too (of course). I hope to be given the opportunity to do just that.

Paul - my mat came this morning and other than the smell (had to drive around for a couple of hours with the top down!) it's great. Fits perfectly and feels very sturdy. It's going to really help me keep from beating up my wheelchair!
And for anyone who wonders why I don't go to the local dealer, it's more than 4 hours away and I don't have to pay sales tax when buying from Texas!
