Just recieved E-mail form SMART dealler.
Electric SMART on its way to California. Deposit-$2500 .Lease only. $599/mo for 48 month. Plus tax and Lic.
So..after $30K+ I'll have to return the car.
Anybody intrested? I'm not.
I've driven an electric truck before, pretty cool and quiet. But 45,000 is a bit steep for me! Hope they can bring that markup down. Ha ha ha

27bhp electric motor works in tandem with the 800cc 40bhp diesel engine and the big news is the car can achieve 98mpg. Its 70kg heavier than the standard diesel car and it will be on sale 2007. I myself am very interested in the car, at present l own two new smart 451`s passion`s. Here in the uk, petrol is £1-10p a litre & diesel is £1-16p a litre. I`m also interested in the electric version. As your posting was Jan you may already have this info. The smart roadster has been taken over by a company in Wales here in the uk, called "AC". They are putting a new engine & gear box in the car and retailing it for £13,000 (pounds). hope you find what your looking for!
