Does anyone have any ideas about replacing the horn on the car? It is embarrassing, and on a car so small I want a horn that will force people to take notice.
I restore Maserati cars and these are the horns I use . They are very small and very loud. I'm on year 11 with my first one.

I once had a boyfriend that replaced his Harley-Davidson horn with a Mac truck air horn. He put the air-compressor in the saddlebags and the horns themselves were beautifully chromed and looked like another pipe on the side. Scared the living daylights out of me the first time he used them on the road with me on the back!
I've seen smaller versions of air horns on Pep Boys and other auto parts stores. They look reasonably easy to install.
Trust me, if a girl can remove the panel without doing any damage, you'll do just fine. Make sure to give yourself 1 1/2 hours for it. I did mine last weekend -- love the new dual air horn I put in. I haven't had a chance to use it, but I tested it in the driveway. :)
PS. Make sure you have a good socket set! And there's a tricky bolt underneath the side panel and the black trim by the driver's door, you'll probably need an extra set of hands for this one. Just be patient.
Julie,
I agree, they need to step up their advertising. I know the dealer here in San Antonio has about 2 dozen cars on the lot and I haven't noticed too many of them moving.
Also, they seem to lose a lot of repeat customers because of the cost of…
I"ve been hearing a lot about dealerships closing all across the USA, and I have to say I'm quite concerned. Sales are WAY down, to the point where dealers can't cover their overhead.
Why hasn't Smart USA launched an advertising campaign? Don't the…
I agree with you, Herb. At first I was gentle on my smartie and my mpg was mid-30's. After I got used to driving it, I started having fun and was hard on the gas pedal doing 70-80 mph, quick starts getting on to the freeway, flooring it to downshift…
L. R., See my comment to Walter. Also, start pushing the car a lot harder. Your engine needs to be worked hard to loosen up and give you better mileage. Never mind the "soft-pedal" approach in "D". Go for the gusto in Manual mode. Works great in the…
I bought my 2008 SMART used with 14,000 miles on the clock. At first, I got about 25 mpg, so I took it to Mercedes for a check-up. The results came back as 36.9 mpg! I have no idea if they did anything to the car or not, but I too suddenly got city…
Above 65 mph mpg goes down, wind and it goes down, allowing your foot to get heavy, goes down. I drive in semi urban and get 38-40 all the time. But in the city stop and go, I accelerate very slowly and as the clutch disengages , I lift slightly so…
