Origin of smart
The name smart was created as an acronym of Swatch Mercedes ART as smart was founded in 1994 by Mercedes and Swatch.
smart, Smart, or smart car?
smart is correctly spelt all lower case but many people incorrectly capitalize the S and some people have called it a "smart car" but that is also incorrect.

Some say fort wo, others 42/fourtwo but it is a fortwo which comes from the number of people it holds (for two). While there used to be a forfour, a concept forfun along with the idea of a formore today smart only produces the fortwo.

What is a "451" smart fortwo?
451 is the version number of all current smart fortwos produced worldwide and is used to define the 2008 smart fortwo sold in America and Canada. The 450 version of the smart fortwo was produced from 1998 till 2007.
