From MSNBC commentator on video clip "Are Hybrids Dead? at finance.yahoo.com
She was referring to non-hybrid cars.
Would someone list these cars for me please?
Not my smart. 7 months-11,000 miles- 38.6 mpg avg. Florida -on flat land- premium fuel-top down 35% of the time-air condtioner on 90% of the time-70% highway miles-K&N filter-Thorley pipes-drive it like I stole it.
i'm getting low 40's in 0-10F in my smart, got 53mpg driving home from wisconsin last may seeing smartster compete in the cannonball run at 55-60mph (was probably better gas, the pumps didn't mention ethanol up there, we get 10% ethanol down here, as a rule)
yeah, my lowest MPG on the SG was 39 and that was in -4F, the coolant never reached 170F. when it's freezing i get mid 40's. my daily commute is 12.3 miles one way with an average speed of 22-24mph (lots of stop and go with speed limits of 35-45mph. the SG is a wonderful tool/device.
Hmmmm - let me see now - nope, that's a hybrid. And, hmm, so is that one . . . so that only leaves . . . SMART!
Of course, when you pull up in a smart, everyone HAS to tell you how their "UmptyMobile" gets 39 mpg (in town) but on their last trip it got an amazing forty-hmmm mpg for the whole trip.
I just tell them, "Sure, I get that a lot." so's not to cause any trouble.
One lady told me her four year old Explorer got 45 mpg on her last trip. . . I couldn't even comment on that one.
Yep, we're at 82 with humidity to match. It wouldn't be the first time I've run A/C on Christmas Day in FL.
Merry Christmas to all you folks in the colder climes . . .
