Terrific Dan,
What did you end up doing?
Do you have Conti's all around, or did you switch brands?
Thanks in advance.

Hi Dan,
There are a lot of little differences between the USA fortwo and the "rest of the world".
The Australian tyre label is pretty much the international one. Listing the skinny wheels and tyres for us is irrelevant... we don't get them... all we get is the fat wheels on the pulse; no pure or passion.

Pulse is the performance model; pure is the basic economy model and the passion is the luxury version of the pure. Some think the pulse is a cheap passion. It's not. Pures and passions get the same skinny tyres. The pulse gets the fatter ones. Since Australia is more like the USA than Europe is, I still can't support Penske's not importing the pulse. Turbo is another argument.

Hi Dan,

No worries... The owners manual suggests a winter pressure a bit higher at 2.0 bar front and 2..5 bar rear... that's 29 psi front; 36 psi rear. Anything over 30 psi front in 175/55 is likely to be a bit hard and skittery on summer bitumen. I always set tyre pressures in the morning, in the garage, before driving... figuring that to be "cold tyre pressure".

Since Australia is mostly above freezing, they only show the summer pressures on the label... then go see the owners manual. Which also advises that the tyres may not develop full grip until a few hundred kilometres. Mine (smart OEM Continentals) seem to have developed full grip after 3,000 km (2,000 miles) and look like having a long life.

Cheers, Ian

Hi Dan,

I love the pulse wheels too! I am running 1.8 bar (26 psi) front and 2.2 bar (32psi) rear. Mine lost 2 psi all round over the first two months. Very easy to check when and inflate cold using a bicycle stirrup pump with digital pressure gauge. Car when delivered had 36 psi all round. Way too hard.
