I wanted to add fog lights to my car and decided to call the dealer to install them. The dealer told me it can't be done. This was News to me can't be done.
Has anyone dealt with this problem.
I would love to add fog lights to my car.
In America most of our roads are one way traffic and having all lights on is not a crime. You can have your fogs on all the time as we just leave them on for better vision. HID's are becoming more common and that is a blinding issue. I run 100 watts and hids in my Smart and the road becomes day light clear.

Thanks Kahn! I printed up and showed this to the dealer's GM...who in fact accompanied me to parts to query this. Parts said, "NOPE". Tackling that work would certaily void the warranty with the exceptional electrical complexity. Just as I figured. But thanks very much for the heads-up. I appreciate the response !
Take care...drive careful.

This is complex, I will make sure to configure my upcoming 2009 cabrio (same color choice as Mr. Kahn's Brabus) with the fog lights. For our skill level, we will stick to oil changes and simple bolt on improvements.
I think fog lights should not be an option but configured to all cars. They just look good and work well. Just like the dual horn should just be on every car.
wtf...what is so complex about some wires, a fuse, a switch and some common tools...
I'll bet this parts guy is the same guy that told some customers that the smart was air cooled...
until it was brought to his attention to explain the radiator....
...there is no way that fog lamps installation will void warranty....WTF...
It seems that the TAN code needs to be updated by the smart service centre after retro-fitting fog lamps to the 451. see: http://www.fq101.co.uk/451foglamps.asp (note the last sentence in the procedure.)
My pulse came with them standard. Very, very good when out on the unlit highway in pouring rain at night.

Well it all depens on how good are you with taking smart panels off. What I did I bought all of the required hardware, including the center console with fog light switch and installed them with my friend over the weekend. Then drove to smart dealership and they performed the upgrade to the software. I paid them less than $50. Hadrware came to be $145, plus chrome fog rings 45 and switch board $135. IS It worth --- DEFINITELY. Fog light are great improvement on the car I love them
When you say you bought the center console with fog light switch, did you have to get a completely new switch block (block of switches on the dash)? If so, have the part # and price?
