451 smart fortwo

Hi,

I bought a second hand pod tachometer for my 2002 fortwo (450)
Unfortunately, the flat cable was totally ripped out of the contact (the contact separated from the cable)
My question is if anybody with a loose instrument could take a photo of the contact and upload it, or if anybody has an curciut diagram describing in what order the cable should be attached to the pins.

Thanks!
Mario

This is really old but on the off-chance you haven't found your answer yet I'll go ahead and post. I assume you're talking about the dash-end connector, not the one inside the tach itself.

I've attached a photo of the connector. Pin 1 is to the left in the picture. The cable itself should be marked with a stripe; this is pin 1, with each conductor connected in order (i.e., not crossed) to pins 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, and 8 of the connector. Pins 5, 7, and 9 are left unconnected.

If you're handy with a multimeter, you should see about 150 ohms between pins 1 and 2 and between pins 3 and 4. Pins 6 and 8 are for the tach illumination. It's a plain old filament light bulb so you should see 10-20 ohms between the pins.

If that's not what you're looking for let me know and I'll see if I can help.

As I understand it, the reverse gear is not syncronized. Most stick shift cars do not have a syncronizer for the reverse gear. The effect of this is that occasionally the two gear teeth that are supposed to "mesh", instead "butt heads" and don't mes…
