BRABUS was put on the US market today and offered to reservation holders ! I have been waiting for something like this to happen, but the news gets even better. When I changed my reservation to a BRABUS they allowed me to configure today. Subject to appoval of course. But hey at least I am now configured. And for a BRABUS - what a deal !
Yes, I was all worried about the front tires being to small on the standard smart, and how I was going to change this. Looks like the BRABUS has that problem taken care of. With 175/55 R16 in front and 215/35 R17 rear it should make for a better handling car. And the 6-spoke Monoblock Vl alloy wheels are better looking. Now I think I have something nice on order. Only available in silver/silver or black/ black, I ordered the silver/silver coupe. Very excited about this car now. The price with the options I added will be 18,660. Not to bad for a BRABUS. I like this.
I could be wrong, but after looking at some photos on line of a 2008 Brabus, It appears that what they are actually offering to the USA in 2009, Is the "Brabus Exclusive" But without the turbo. Does anyone know if this would be correct ? Could we call the US Brabus a Brabus Exclusive ?
Hi Scott,
Curretly the USA 2009 Brabus has been only offered to reservation holders who had not yet configured a car. They did this by an e-mail invitation on October 23rd. The offfer was only open from the 23rd to Nov 2nd. You had to ask to have your current reservation for standard smart swiched to a Brabus. There was a limited number available so I won't find out untill on or after Nov 2nd if my reservation for a Brabus was accepted. I am hoping for the best. If you were not a reservation holder you would not know about the USA Brabus offer. I hope this answers your question.
That's great ! I heard there were only 1500 available so they sold 100 more then they had planed. I still don't know if I am one of the lucky 1600 or not. No e-mail from smart USA yet. Got my fingers crossed though. I think if they had offered more, they could have sold every one of them. No shortage of demand over here. If I don't get offered a BRABUS, I will still be happy with the Passion. Great to know the demand is out there. We are one step closer to being offered a turbo overhere. Thats if the USA will let it in.
Hi Aquabarrel, I am in Minnesota and in about eight days or less my Brabus should be arriving at my dealer here in Bloomington. It arrived at the Baltimore, MD port on 2/15/09 and is on its way by car carrier, heck it could be here on Saturday, that would be 2/21/09. It went very fast after the 90 day email. On 3/1/09 it will be one year since I put down my $99.00 reservation. I had expected to wait 14 months to get a smart, but I think I speeded things up when I converted my reservation to a Brabus. I would have rather not taken possession in the winter, but oh well what ever happens happens. Good Luck on your order. Things should start to go faster now.
I also have a 2006 diesel cabrio. (Brabus body and interior package added by former Montreal owner, 68,000 Kilometres total) The road feel and handling, as well as interior room on the 451 is inferior to the older model. The up-side of that is there…
Just recieved E-mail form SMART dealler.
Electric SMART on its way to California. Deposit-$2500 .Lease only. $599/mo for 48 month. Plus tax and Lic.
So..after $30K+ I'll have to return the car.
Anybody intrested? I'm not.
The problem is that gas prices right now are low - if they were 4.50 a gallon people would be looking it them more. It is still a hoot to drive and kids smile when they see it.
