Hello Paul,
I have mine on order and I do live in Round Rock. Dealing with Marty at the moment and hoping that either my car comes in fast or an orphan that is similar to mine.
I guess to start out I should explain that I live in San Antonio, Texas and have ordered two of the smartfortwo cars; a cabriolet for myself and a passion for my wife. We are number 453 on the waiting list with a delivery sometime around Feburary of next year (2009) per the dealer, which is Ancira Chrysler Jeep. I travel about 280 miles per week just to and from work, so this would a very good answer to the raising gas prices. I have been reading up on the smartfortwo for about 6 months and finally made the decision to get one (two). One of the questions I have is about, Flat tires? With all of the construction that is going on in San Antonio my concern is changing a flat, since I have not seen anything in reference to a spare and the dealer told me it comes with a tire repair kit, I was wondering if an additional tire and rim would be made available for those people that would like to play it safe and have a spare! Along the same lines: If a spare was available what would be the cost? I have read somewhere that the smartfortwo engine could get hot while driving (Can't remember weather it was in stop and go traffic !). Is this an issue? Because I have seen(On smartfortwo site that there is someone that sells a air funnel for cooling the engine) Sorry this message is so long but these types of questions need to be answered. Thanks

Randy,
I also live in S.A. and ordered my Passion in Aug. and still haven't been notified by smart to order. As to the tires- there are two different size tires on the vehicle and to have two spares in the back is not wise for safety reasons. Heat (engine) could be a real problem. Where did you see that engine air funnel? Sorry I couldn't solve your tire concerns. Neal
I have not forgotten you, I'am still looking for the site on the air funnel, since I was surfing I did not save it! As far as the spare tire; The quick Guide that I downloaded (At the every end of the guide) gives you tire and loading information. It shows size and pressure for front, rear and SPARE tire! Says it is a T125/70D15 if i'am not mistaken that is one of those compact spare tires. I also read where an individual got a dealer compact spare used to move smart cars that had flat tires rather then use the can of fix-a-flat. That was a 115/70R15. At www.smartieparts.com they have a spare tire holder for the outside back of the smart car, but I believe it was made for the 450. I have also read where the use of a spare the same size as the front tire could be used on the front as well as the back for short distances, until you can get the tire repaired. I was also reading where if you use the can of fix-a-flat it could effect your tire pressure sensor. Further reseach has revealed that there is an air scoop that you could put on the side of the car, but I'am not so sure that would do the job of increasing the air flow over the engine, and it didn't look that good. I will continue to look for the air funnel and let you know.

Thanks Randy for spare tire info and the parts website. I spoke with the dealership sales person(all info from those guys need to be verified and checked) about the sealer damaging the tire pressure monitoring system and he said the sensor is located in valve stem and shouldn't be damaged. It's going to take a few years of club member experience to verify that.
What tire website were you in that listed 115/70R15 as replacement? If we want to carry a spare we have to include the proper rim.
The air scoop could be for the 450 and may or may not work in the 451. I will Google it.
Official word is that the TPMS will not be damaged if all procedures are followed IAW AR40.10-P-1080MCU. I can't copy the file, but will fax it to whoever wants it. I was told that smart's sealant will not damage sensor, but other brands might. Neal is right, in a few years, we'll all know for sure.
I got my smartfortwo from smart Sugar Land, Texas on March 5th, 2008. I was told by Ralph (salesman) that mine was the 13th on the road in the Houston, Corpus Christi, Galveston, Beaumont area! She ("Daisy") must have been on the first truck!
I signed up for the smart newsletter in June 2006. I made a deposit February or March 2007! Another e-mail told me to choose my colors and accessories. I ordered yellow with black tridon and RED interrior, alarm, Radio 10, and power steering. Oh, and window tenting, too! I always think outside the box! My test drive was July 17th, 2007. Then I knew I made the right decision by ordering very early!
It was a long wait but I've had a ton of fun driving her. People drive past, then slow down and take pictures of my smart with their cell phones. I see people looking in the window when it is parked where I can see it. And like everyone, I get a ton of questions about mileage, who makes it, is it a hybrid or electric, where did you buy it (smartusa.com), etc., etc. I've thought of making a business card with FAQ and answers to just hand out so I don't have to take the time to answer. Now I usually say "smartusa.com" will answer all your questions.
Mine is so cute that I wish I could find a bumble bee to put on my intenna or a bee stinger to put on my "tail." Does anyone know where to find something like that?
If there are any Houston area smart car events, please keep me informed!!!
Hi Paul-Kathy Moss here from San Antonio. Got my car this past week on 9/11. Blue with silver. I had to wait since July '07, but was worth the wait. Would love to get together with Austin, San Antonio Club members. Please keep in touch. Kathym1228@att.net

I bought the little side cargo net for the side plastic panel but I am struggling with the install!!
Does anyone have a good clear pic of theirs installed, or are there any tips for installing this?
Thanks in Advance!!
Ho HO ho.... Nice! Very nice. What I would love is a dusting of snow in Central Florida. I'm certain the chances are ever so slim. Merry Christmas to you and yours. Thanks for sharing the spirit.!
Dealer just told me that there is a leak in the vacuum for the fuel tank on my 2008 451 Smart ForTwo as well as a physical leak.
The service rep said other cars had this issue. Cost me $1300. Shouldn't this be a recall? These guys need to get their…
Well, yes and no. I'd like to address several misconceptions in the posting from ceejay 2005.
1.- Yes, the plastic laminate holds much of the windshield fragments together, but is actually a mortal danger to unsecured occupants in the car when thei…
