Does anyone know how large of a rim and tire you could fit on the stock car? I've read multiple articles that provide different information. Some say 17 inch rims, others say 18 inch. I believe the stock wheels are 15's which would mean that 18's are quite a stretch.
I think it would be possible to put 18's in as smart offers 17's as a factory option and as long as you could get the thin enough rubber it could be possible. I have 15's on my smart and with the racing springs/lowering kit the wheels look huge and while I could go up in size I'm happy with the stiffness of the car at present.
Sadly the city I'm in won't really allow me to drive daily on a 17/18 inch wheel as there are just too many pot holes, it wouldn't be long before I'd be denting the rims.
I'm looking forward to seeing what all people do with the smart in terms of wheels and body kits, here is a photo of 17's on a smart.
I'm working on putting some 17 at the moment. Will post when I get it done. 18 will probably fit, at least the rear. I think other issues will pop up though. What kind of springs you use?
The Brabus ultimate 112 has 17's on the frt. and 18's on the rear. The suspension on that model is a good inch lower than our stock cars run so that would indicate it's not all that difficult to go to at least a full set of 17's as long as the overall diameter is really close to stock.
Does anyone out there have concerns about the lack of a spare tire? I'm still kind of freaked out by this. I mean what happens if you're out in the boonies somewhere? And why don't they repair them? Seems kind of bad environmentally to merely replace the tire.
Goofed up, meant to include in previoue reply. Re flat tire concern(s). Have been in outside sales for 10 years, never a flat during that time, averaging 50-55,00 mi per year. But, always purchased top shelf tires during that time. The oem tires on the fortwo are very good and I am not overly concerned about having a flat.
You could always invest in run flats, for peace of mind.
Since this is no longer a valid offer, why does it show up on the splash page? It's kind of irritating that test drivers walked away with a bunch of goodies, and my dealer wouldn't cough up anything for buying one.
found a great "vehicle organizer" for my smart. It work really well for all those plastic grocery bags. Fill almost the entire back. Has several rigid dividers to keep everything from sliding around. heavy duty velcro keeps it from sliding. Reall…
Find out who is doing this to us, please, and tell the rest of us so we can boycott whatever the ba$tard is $elling.
Funny, neither of my 1200cc Suzuki Bandits get more than a tad over 51 mpg (this is the newer 1255cc model).
I'd LOVE to own the n…
My Smart transmission problem just happened again! This time I started up the car, shifted into Reverse, no power, just as if it was in neutral. Tried turning it off, letting it "reset". Started up again. Same result. Tried Drive: also no power. Tri…
